We are so excited for this special limited edition PRETTY PROJECT design! It is a special collaboration between us and Kristen Aleida the local Winnipeg watercolour artist.

Our Original saying of "PRETTY SMART, PRETTY STRONG, PRETTY BRAVE" has been transformed by Kristen with her beautiful hand painted script and stunning watercolour flowers.

While sitting down and discussing this collaboration, I wanted to go with Kristen's signature style but chose to do special Gladiolus flowers. Gladiolus comes from the the Latin word “gladius”, meaning sword (the flowers grow all together on a beautiful spear/sword like stem). It is said that Gladiators wore the flower around their necks for protection and luck...... maybe in a way wearing these shirts can bring protection and luck to us too :) This overall design symbolizes that we can be strong and mighty but yet delicate and soft. As women and girls we don't have to choose but can encompass all the amazing qualities of women and girls at once.

By wearing this shirt we are taking back the word Pretty that is so often what women and girls are reduced to. We are so much more than our looks. This project is meant to not only empower the women and girls that wear these shirts but also to anyone who reads them.

We also have partial proceeds going back into the community to help build women up. For our regular PRETTY PROJECT pieces we partner and give back to Alpha House Winnipeg but for this special project we are giving back to the Winnipeg West Central Women's Resource Centre (WCWRC). They empower women, families, and the community to move from where they are to where they want to be.
