Mexican Artisan Embroidery Art

My recent trip to Mexico was truly remarkable, and I returned with some amazing souvenirs. My primary purpose for being in Oaxaca was to find the unique handmade crafts that it's well-known for, and everything exceeded expectations.

This is a stunning piece of fabric art from the Oaxaca State but in a small village in Huatulco area, called Copalita. Copalita is by the south part on the Ocean and where I stayed my last week in Mexico. It it made from a local woman, Juana and her mother-in-law, who make gorgeous hand embroidery pieces. This is cotton yarn on cotton cloth and done in the punch-needle style. It is a single gorgeous rose that is actually from a larger piece that I have cut up and framed. Whenever I travel I love to buy art as keepsakes, and since I love textiles so much, I love to frame gorgeous pieces of handmade textiles as art. The other part of the piece is framed and will personally hang up in my house. My way of sharing a bit of the magic.

A bright design that is traditional and yet modern. I also simply framed it in all white so the rose stands out that much more. Frame included :)
